Why phone-first?
Most business funding decisions come down to a handful of facts: what the money is for, when it's needed, what the business turns over, whether there's property, and what's happened in the past. A good specialist can get to those facts in ten minutes of conversation. A form can't ask the follow-up question — "and when did the default happen?", "is the house in a trust?" — that changes the whole answer.
So we built the service around the call. Every page on this site ends with a phone number, because a page can explain options in general, but only a conversation can tell you which one fits your business.
What our lending specialists do
- Listen first. What's going on, what's the deadline, what have you already tried?
- Work out which line you're on. Property-secured, unsecured, a line of credit, a combination — or none of the above, if funding isn't the right answer.
- Match you with a lending partner from our panel whose criteria genuinely fit, before any credit check is run.
- Explain the offer in plain English, including the total cost, security, guarantees and early repayment.
- Help the application through to settlement, including documents and what the lawyers need.
What we can help with
Property-secured business loans from $20,000 up to $1m, secured on New Zealand property the borrower or a supporting party already owns — home, rental or investment property, commercial property or land — as a first or second mortgage, even if there's already a mortgage on it. No financials or tax returns are needed for the initial assessment; bad credit, defaults and arrears are considered case by case; IRD debt can be refinanced or paid out; and funding is possible within 24 hours of approval in some cases.
Unsecured business loans and lines of credit for businesses usually trading 6+ months, with the amount based on turnover and bank statements. Weaker credit is considered, and decisions are sometimes made the same day.
What we don't do
- We're not a bank. We don't lend our own money. Loans are provided by our lending partners, subject to their approval criteria.
- We don't do personal or consumer loans. The Hotline is for business purposes only — sole traders, companies, partnerships and trusts.
- We don't publish rate cards. Every loan is priced on the individual situation, and a generic figure would tell you nothing about yours. We find the sharpest option available for your circumstances and explain it.
- We don't push a loan you don't need. If an IRD arrangement, a supplier conversation or a chat with your accountant is the better answer, we'll say so.

About the content on this site
The Ask the Hotline answers and Before You Call guides are written by the Business Loan Hotline editorial team for New Zealand business owners, using current sources such as Inland Revenue, the Companies Office, LINZ and business.govt.nz, which we link to where helpful. They're general information to help you prepare, not personal financial, legal or tax advice — for decisions about your specific situation, talk to your accountant or lawyer as well as a lending specialist.
