How it works
One phone call. Then a clear path.
The Hotline is built around a simple idea: talk to a lending specialist first, then apply to the right lender once — instead of filling in forms everywhere and hoping. Here's the whole journey, step by step.
-
About 60 seconds to request
Ring the Hotline — or ask us to ring you
Call 09 875 4577, or fill in the short call-back request. You'll be asked for your name, number, business and roughly what you need. Enquiring is free and doesn't affect your credit score.
-
Usually 10–20 minutes
The first conversation
A lending specialist asks what the money is for, when you need it, how the business is trading and whether there's New Zealand property involved. Rough numbers are fine. Mention anything awkward — credit issues, IRD arrears — now, not later.
-
Often on the same call
Options, in plain English
You'll hear which routes are realistic: a property-secured loan from $20,000 to $1m, an unsecured loan or line of credit sized to turnover, a combination, or — if it's the better answer — something other than a loan.
-
Before any credit check
Matching a lending partner
We compare our lending partners' criteria against your situation and recommend the one that fits. Only when you're ready does that lender run a credit check, with your authorisation.
-
As fast as documents arrive
Documents and assessment
Typically ID, business details and recent bank statements; for property-secured loans, property details — no financials or tax returns for the initial assessment. Unsecured decisions are sometimes same day.
-
Walked through with you
The offer — read before you sign
You'll see the amount, total cost, fees, repayments, security and any guarantees. Every loan is priced on your individual situation, and we'll explain it line by line. Secured loans involve lawyers and independent advice for guarantors.
-
In some cases within 24 hours of approval
Funded
Once documents are signed and conditions met, funds are paid — to your business account, or directly to creditors such as Inland Revenue if you're clearing a debt.
Have these handy when you call
- Business name, NZBN and the owners or directors
- How much, what for, and by when
- Roughly what the business turns over each month
- 3–6 months of business bank statements (PDFs are fine)
- Photo ID — NZ driver licence or passport
- Property address, owners and mortgage balance, if relevant
What slows things down
- Bank statements for only one of several business accounts
- Co-owners or guarantors who don't know yet
- Surprises on the property title
- Changing the amount after approval
- Christmas–January and long weekends
About the process
Do I have to apply online?
No. You can do the whole first step by phone. The online call-back request is there for people who'd rather we rang them.
Is there a cost to talk to the Hotline?
No. Enquiring is free. If you go ahead with a loan, all costs are set out in the loan offer before you sign.
Will I be pressured to take a loan?
No. The first call is about working out what's realistic. If a loan isn't the right answer, we'll tell you.
Who actually lends the money?
One of our lending partners. The Hotline isn't a bank; our specialists match you with a lender whose criteria fit and help the application through.
Step one takes a minute.
A lending specialist will listen to what's going on and tell you straight what's realistic. Enquiring is free, takes about 60 seconds and doesn't affect your credit score.
